tom jones

This morning one of my colleagues was most helpfully singing "Help Yourself" by the amazing Welsh trouser monster Mr Tom Jones.

As an earworm it really has been most fabulous + I haven't got to that stage where the opening bars start to irritate me + I get all stroppy which is not bad considering I started singing it at 8am!

Joseph - I was a bit disappointed this week as I didn't get to see the whole show (my niece was wanting to watch 'Angelina Ballerina' + got incredibly harrrrumphy when I pulled rank + said that as I was older than her I could have the choice of TV prog - one of the many advantages I've found age brings you!!

Was quite pleased to see 'Rob the Teeth' be shown the door though....he really had been there for far too long! Didn't enjoy that the show was super quick - even if it was for Eurovision.

I tried watching 'Grease is the word' afterwards - more to annoy my niece who by this time was chomping at the bit to watch cartoons!! Wasn't very impressed... The panel don't seem to have the same air of authority as the Beeb one does + it looked reeeeeeeeeaally amateur. Didn't think the couple who got booted off deserved it - Footloose wasn't the best choice of song though coz it is v repetitive and has to be one of my least favourite ew's!

Am v confused today re what day of the week it is...I think it's all those fabulous bank holidays that we've been having here. Thankfully only another week or so and we've got another one, hurrah :-)

Feeling very sleepy now, must get some tea!

back again

2 + a bit months in the wilderness...

Oops, note to self : must remember all my passwords....! Have spent quite a while unable to access my blog due to being a bit of a dunce + not remembering all the relevant passwords....it's official, I'm a dullard!

Am still singing/mumbling tunelessly though :-)

Today's ear worm is from an advert from the 1990s for a shampoo called Salon Selectives. It's a very short earworm with 2 whole words but as we are all aware, size doesnt matter + it truly is most annoying!!

I am now trying to change the EW to chitty chitty bang bang which is the Godfather of all EW's and kind of blanks out any really nasty worminess with its own brand of repetitive monotony! The sad thing for my work colleagues is that I try to sing the harmonies. In reality I do sound like an animal in pain!!

Other notable EWs I've had since my last blog....showtunes! I'm rather obsessed with the new 'Joseph' programme on the beeb. It really is fabulous and makes the ITV 'Grease' thing look very droll.

Am not 100% enjoying the Denise van Outen + John B impact though - think they both go on far too mucn + I'd much rather hear from the other 2.

Was a bit sad to see Chris voted out at the weekend - shall miss the sparkly bright pearly whites clashing with those stage lights. Thought they were a bit mean to lovely Lee - my own personal favourite - and I couldn't believe that Ben was still in it (are the voting public unable to hear the lack of tone or are they mesmerised by his puppy dawg eyes??).

Anyway I think after that little flurry on the keyboard I am deserving a cup of tea + choccie biscuit :-)

welcome to my blog

After 6 trillion years in the blog wilderness I have finally managed to surpass my previous technological high (changing a hoover bag!) and set up my very own blog.

ooh the glamour!!!

So, welcome to my blog! I shall be - as the title suggests - mainly talking about the joy of worms but not your common or garden worms...oh no, for that way holds no interest to me (sorry). Reader, I want to bring you into the wonderful word of ear worms. For the uninitiated, an ear worm is a song that gets into your head, resulting in much trauma to yourself and those around you because you literally can't get them out of your head!!

Today's ear worms are numerous...the current one being hummed tunelessly in the office (by me!) is the theme from "The Good, The Bad + The Ugly" (which I saw incidentally for the 1st time yesterday). Slightly off track but I am slightly embarrassed to admit that I've not seen the film before as it is utterly fabulous! My boyfriend was slightly annoyed that at quiet parts of said film I kept breaking out into the theme song, or more specifically the "Wa Wa Wa Wa Wah" bit of it. Apart from that I'm sure it didn't spoil his enjoyment of the film at all!!

The other ear worm that is creeping into my head is Darth Vader's tune from the Star Wars films. Just think about it, go on and then beware!! The tune really doesn't go away.

Alas it's now home time so enjoy the rest of your day + I'll be back soon with more ear worm tales!!
